Tata Motors is one of the most renowned automobile manufacturers in India. The company has a rich history that dates back to 1945 when it was established as a locomotive manufacturer under the name TELCO (Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company). In 1954, TELCO collaborated with Daimler-Benz AG, a German automobile manufacturer, to produce commercial vehicles in India. This partnership resulted in the first commercial vehicle to be produced in India, the Mercedes-Benz 312 truck. TELCO continued to produce Mercedes-Benz vehicles until the collaboration ended in 1969.
